The SOS Primers are available in 6 shades, and each color provides a different effect :
00 Universal Light boosts radiance
01 Rose minimizes signs of fatigue
02 Peach blurs imperfections
03 Coral minimizes dark spots
04 Green diminishes redness
05 Lavender brightens sallow skin
Left to right : 00 Universal Light, 01 Rose, 02 Peach, 03 Coral, 04 Green, 05 Lavender
To me, the formula is very similar to Clarins' Instant Light Complexion Bases. The texture, the packaging and the scent are almost identical!
The SOS Primers have a nice creamy consistency and blend seamlessly into the skin. They feel very hydrating, but not too heavy. In fact, I can completely skip my moisturizer when I use these primers! They make my skin feel incredibly soft.
The colors 02, 03, 04 and 05 have a slightly luminous finish, with no visible shimmers. The shade 01 Rose has a beautiful pearly finish, while 00 Universal Light is more shimmery than all the other shades (this one is too sparkly for me).
Swatches on fair skin (similar to NC10)
The colors are sheer, so I can apply a thin layer and my skin doesn't look green or purple. I personally prefer to use them under my foundation, because they don't provide enough coverage on their own.
I wish they made my foundation last longer and blurred my pores, but they are great color-correcting moisturizers! I absolutely love the shade 01 Rose, it looks amazing with a matte foundation (such as BareMinerals' BarePro Liquid Foundation). It makes my skin look fresh and glowy! I love the shade 05 Green too, it really helps reduce redness.
The Clarins SOS Primers retail for $39 CAD for 30ml and are available at clarins.ca.
