This foundation offers medium to full coverage, but I find that it performs much better if I apply a thin layer. If I try to apply enough product to achieve full coverage, it doesn't wear well (settles into fine lines, looks cakey on the nose). But when I apply a normal amount of product, it looks beautiful on the skin and wear much better throughout the day.
I love how it doesn't look dry or powdery, and it doesn't feel like it's sucking the life out of my skin! This isn't mattifying enough for me, though. My skin is very oily, and my favorite matte foundation can control shine for up to 4 hours, while this one stays matte for only 2 hours (even if I set it with powder).
The consistency is different than all the other matte foundations I've tried in the past. It's a liquid foundation but it's quite thick, and it doesn't feel powdery or dry on the skin. In fact, it feels a bit like a BB Cream, but the finish is matte.
The formula can be difficult to work with, it dries very fast and doesn't spread easily on the skin. It looks best if I use an hydrating primer and apply it with a damp Beautyblender. It looks good when I apply it with a foundation brush too, but the brush tends to accentuate dry patches more.

Cover FX Power Play Foundation in N25 (without powder)
I have mixed opinions about the Power Play foundation.
This product is specifically formulated for oily skin and is supposed to be very mattifying, but it's not mattifying enough for me.
However, I think it would be a great matte foundation for normal to dry skin!
The Cover FX Power Play Foundation retails for $52 CAD for 35ml and is available at Sephora.

I just picked this up to replace my UD naked skin becuase I was finished it. I'm so glad I did i love it, it took me 2 samples of it to make up my mind but I'm glad I went with this one. I love how it performs I get some transfer but it's not an issue with me, because it nomrally happens at the end of the night. I've used setting powder with it and I also tried it with out and defently like it better and the texture afterwards with powder to set. I find it works great with my oily T zone but it clings to my dry patches specially if they are really bad.
ReplyDeleteI also like how it's in a squeeze bottle too because if you just want a little you can achive that with out getting a full pump or too much and you have sit there and blend so your don't want to waste the product. Not sure if you notice this or had the same issues, you have to work fast because I find it drys and it's hard to work with afterwards. In the end I do love this foundation it's got an awesome shade range and it performs like I need it to.
Hi Katie,
DeleteI'm so sorry for the delay, I just noticed that I haven't received any email notifications since May, so I only saw your comment today. :(
With that being said, I'm so happy to hear you love the foundation! Yes I noticed the same thing, it dries super fast. Do you apply it with a damp Beautyblender?
