The finish is slightly glossy and the colors are a bit translucent (kinda like a gel-cream), but extremely pigmented. The light shades (Ginger Rose, Clouds In My Coffee) were more opaque, less gel-like than the other colors.
I find that the formula is a tad firm in the tube and tugs a little bit on the lips, but it wasn't a problem for me as I can simply prep my lips with a bit of lipbalm. The good thing with a thicker formula, is that you still get the shiny finish but it doesn't feather as much as an oilier consistency!
The light shades last 3 hours on me, while the deeper hues wore well for 6-7 hours. They feel a bit thick in comparison to other MAC lipsticks, but they aren't sticky and they moisturize my lips really well.
Left to right : King Salmon, Bite O' Georgia, Habanero, Fire Roasted, Brick Dust, Well Bred Brown, Clouds In My Coffee, Ginger Rose, Beetroot, Noblesse
Noblesse is the only shade that was a bit of a let down ; it was streaky and clung to dry skin. The quality isn't on par with the rest of the range, unfortunately.
If you love the color and want to give it a try, I would suggest to wear Noblesse over a lip liner (such as MAC's Liptensity lip pencil in La Sultana). Or you can always wear it like a lip stain with a bit of clear gloss on top. And I have to say, it's very pretty as a lip stain!
This formula was a nice surprise! It's similar to MAC's Amplified Creme lipsticks but slightly thicker so I find that it last longer on the lips. I love the colored caps as well, it's so easy to find the shade I want in my fairly large lipstick collection.
No wonder why last year's launch was such a big hit!
Oh and in case you were wondering, the Liptensity lipsticks have the same vanilla scent than other MAC lipsticks! Anyone else is obsessed with that scent?
