The Matte Revolution Lipsticks are highly pigmented and most of them have a super smooth and creamy formula, they glide on the lips without tugging!
All the shades I've tried left a stain on the lips, but Menace was a lot harder to remove.. which can be a good or a bad thing depending of your preferences. I personally love this because it increases the staying power! Speaking of which, I get more than 6 hours of wear and the formula feels great on my lips.
Left to right : After Dark, Tilt, Menace, Blackmail and Bittersweet
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Blackmail
Blackmail is a very dark purple (almost black!) with a semi-matte finish. The color payoff is great but if you want a super opaque black, you will need to blot the first layer with a tissue and then you can apply a second layer. This is the darkest lipstick I own and while that's not something I would wear often, I think it's a nice addition to my makeup collection!
Tom Ford Black Dahlia, Vasanti Drunk In Love and Illamasqua Growl are lighter. MAC Instigator is slightly lighter and is more purple. MAC Dramatic Encounter (LE) is slightly lighter and the finish is more glossy.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Menace
Menace is a bright fuchsia pink with a matte finish. This one is more matte than the other Matte Revolution Lipsticks and the formula is less creamy. I recommend to apply it over a very thin layer of your favorite lip balm or some MAC Prep + Prime Lip. It's a highly pigmented shade and the staying power is pretty impressive. Despite the fact that it isn't very creamy, it still feels comfortable on the lips during many hours!
MAC Flat Out Fabulous is more cool toned. MAC Candy Yum-Yum is a lot lighter. MAC Tats (LE) is slightly lighter and more warm toned. PUPA Milano #203 is a tad darker and more red.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Afterdark
After Dark is a medium berry red with a slightly pearlescent matte finish. Yep, it seems like the finish can vary quite a bit for each shade! The finish for this one is hard to describe, it's matte but it has a sheen without being frosty. The color payoff is great although it's not completely opaque.
MAC Heaux (LE) is a bit lighter and less purple. Vasanti Mad Love is slightly lighter and more pink. Illamasqua Shard is a tad more purple.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bittersweet
Bittersweet is a medium pinky purple with a creamy finish. This one has a very creamy consistency so the finish is less matte than the other shades, but it's not too oily either. It feels amazing on the lips! I usually don't like cool toned shades on me but I love Bittersweet, it's quite unique!
MAC Heroine is darker, more mauve. Colourpop Lychee is darker, more mauve and brighter.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Tilt
Tilt is a coral orange with a semi-matte finish. The color payoff is excellent and the formula is smooth and creamy! I really, really love this shade and can't wait to wear it next summer (sigh).
MAC Dangerous is darker and less coral. NARS Juliette is slightly lighter and is a tad more pink. NYX Indie Flick is lighter, brighter and is much more orange. MAC Ablaze (LE) is lighter and a bit brighter.
The Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick retail for $26 CAD for 2.8g.

OMG Urban Decay is my favorite makeup brand! I have the liquid lipstick one that came in tubes, but I'll put this on my list for my next beauty shopping spree. The colors are FAB, I don't even know which one I like the most. The Blackmail color is bold and daring, so I might try that one. Would be great for fall and winter ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't even know they had liquid lipsticks, how did I miss that?! That black lipstick is gorgeous isn't it? I wish I could wear it more often! :)
DeleteThese shades are so pretty especially the blackmail color. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful color, I agree! :)
