In the spotlight : Biotherm Aquasource Skincare Line

I've always been a big fan of Biotherm products. In fact, when I started to take care of my skin when I was just a teenager, I chose Biotherm. I used many of their products during these years, but I have to admit that curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to try differents brands, so I didn't use them lately but Biotherm will always have a special place in my heart. When Biotherm asked me to try their Aquasource skincare line, I was excited to add them back in my skincare routine and also, share my thoughts with you!

I use the green skincare line which is for normal to combination skin, since my acne prone and oily skin is very dehydrated (mostly during winter) because of the acne treatments I use. But there's also a Aquasource and Biosource skincare line for dry skin types too. All these products are formulated without the use of parabens.

Aquasource ($47 CDN for 50ml)
48h deep hydration replenishing gel
Aquasource gel, this product is a classic! I used many jars of that stuff during the past 10 years. It's a gel that perfectly hydrate skin and it smell so good! I like it because it's not as sticky or greasy as most creams on the market, although it can be a bit sticky if you use too much. Trust me, you only need a small amount anyway! The new formula doesn't contain parabens or mineral oil.

Aquasource Deep Serum ($60 CDN for 50ml)
Deep moisture and light concentrate
I love this serum! It's similar to the Aquasource gel, but it's a bit more lightweight on the skin, without being less moisturizing. And you also need a tiiiny amount to hydrate your whole face, or it might leave a slightly sticky film on the skin. You don't need to use a lot anyway so why waste it! Aquasource Deep Serum is 3 times more concentrated in thermal plankton cellular water and mannose than the Aquasource gel. The skin is deeply hydrated, love it!

Aquasource BB. Cream ($37 CDN for 30ml)
Instant Beautifying Moisturizer
This tinted formula is enriched with pure thermal plankton and mineral pigments, and it does hydrate the skin and leave it soft and supple! Its texture is quite thick, but it melts on the skin and blends easily. The coverage is light and it has a natural luminous finish that instantly revives a dull complexion! You'll definitely need a concealer if you have acne or dark spots to cover up. The light coverage isn't a problem for me, but I think this formula is too moisturizing for my skin type, which isn't really surprising since this skincare line is made to hydrate. I just need something that is more mattifying than hydrating, so I think this BB Cream isn't for me. However, normal to dry skin types that are looking for a natural and luminous finish will probably love it, if they want light coverage too.

Biosource Mousse ($20 CDN for 150ml)
Hydra-mineral cleanser toning mousse
I used many Biotherm cleansers in the past years, and I like that they are affordable and I only need a tiny amount to clean my face. This one removes all my makeup (except waterproof mascara, of course) while still being gentle to the skin. Also, it rinse off quickly and my skin doesn't feel tight. I like to alternate between this mousse and my salicylic face wash (need this to fight my acne!), so my skin isn't drying out too much.

Biosource Lotion ($20 CDN for 200ml)
Instant hydration toning lotion
I have to admit that I never use that type of product, I just don't feel like I need it. I mean, I haven't used a toner or lotion since at least 5 years and my skin doesn't look awful. I did test it for you, dear readers, and I liked to apply it on my face with a cotton pad to remove the last traces of makeup, but to be honest there wasn't anything on the cotton pad (thank you, Biotherm Mousse!). I noticed that this lotion left an hydrating film on my skin, not greasy but more like if my skin drank a glass of water. In my case, this isn't a product I really need in my skincare routine, but I think it's a nice lotion.

Aquasource Nuit ($50 CDN for 50ml)
High density hydrating jelly
This dense jelly surprised me, you apply it at night on clean skin and upon awakening ; skin is soft, looks full of moisture and plumped, even after washing your face! I only know one product that gives the same effect and it's the Biotherm Source Therapy (I really should buy another bottle!) The only thing I dislike is the texture that is a bit too sticky and greasy, it takes at least 30 minutes to sink in my skin. But then again, it can be because my skin is already oily to begin with.

Speaking of Biotherm, I'd like to invite you to an event at Hudson's Bay (Montreal), between 12:00 and 19:00, to meet Olivia Mew and receive a personnalised Valentine's Day card. Olivia is an illustrator based in Montreal, Canada. She did a series of 6 postcards to hand out in-store and you can get one of them when you buy a Biotherm product at Hudson's Bay, Jean Coutu or Shoppers Drugmart. (And they give you a sample too!)

(I received these products in order to evaluate them and give my opinion, but rest assured that my comments are always honest and impartial. This article is sponsored by Biotherm.)
